In 1875 in Trieste Vittorio Grego began producing one of the first antifouling paints manufactured in the world and it was composed of metallic copper powder that gave it a golden appearance. Vittorio Grego therefore named it 'Nubiana', after Nubia, the region of Upper Egypt that had been the land of gold for the pharaohs.

Vittorio Grego's 'Nubiana' painting immediately proved to be very successful, quickly conquered the markets of the Mediterranean and then spread to South America and South Africa. It became a leader in the field of fishing fleets.

From then until today Vittorio Grego, which in the meantime has become Nubian, has specialized in the yachting sector, increasing its product range and today becoming one of the very few existing companies dedicated exclusively to the nautical sector, making the quality of its antifouling products its flagship.
